Air to Water Heat Pump - €6,500 Grant Available

The Air to Water Heat Pump is now the consumers choice for their heating solution. As well as being energy efficient and environmentally friendly, a heat pump maintains a constant heat which means they can help maintain a comfortable indoor temperature throughout the year.

Domestic Heat pumps

Before you apply

To qualify for a heat pump system grant your home must have sufficiently low heat loss. This is to ensure your heat pump system performs well and your electricity bills are not too high.

For homes built prior to 2007, a technical assessment is required to be carried out first. For homes built from 2007 onwards, a Self-Declaration form OR a completed Technical Assessment must be completed and uploaded at application stage of a Heat Pump System.

About the grant

Heat pumps are renewable heating systems offering lower energy costs and reduced carbon emissions. Your home must well insulated to benefit from a heat pump.

This grant covers a range of heat pump systems and, where applicable, a grant towards your technical assessment. Heat pump grants are paid for first time systems. They are not paid for replacement heat pump systems where a heat pump was already present in the home.

Who can apply

All homeowners, including private landlords, whose homes were built and occupied before 2021 can apply. This is defined as the date your electricity meter was installed. This is different to other grant measures where the home must be built before 2011.

If Your Home is Built from 2007 Onwards

If your home is built and occupied from 2007 onwards, a Technical Assessment is not mandatory to complete. You have the option of completing a Technical Assessment OR completing and signing a Self-Declaration form, which must be uploaded as part of the Heat Pump Grant Application. A home which has been built from 2007 onwards, will have a sufficiently low level of heat loss in the dwelling's fabric which forgoes the requirement for a Technical Assessment to be carried out.

If your home is built from 2007 onwards, you still have the option to complete a Technical Assessment, however it is not mandatory to complete any identified fabric upgrades outlined on the completed Technical Assessment by the Technical Advisor. The €200 Technical Assessment grant is still open to avail of if a completed and signed Technical Assessment is uploaded at the Heat Pump System grant application stage.
